Atlanta Lavish 13-acre Greenspace

and Its Majestic Edifice

With the Georgia Dome out of the way, construction work has begun to transform the site once bearing the famous domed stadium into a new urban park, a 13-acre green-space to be known as the Home Depot Backyard is due to open this fall.

The creation of the Home Depot Backyard is a fulfillment of the promise made by Atlanta’s city officials, that the newly built Mercedes-Benz stadium won’t shut out neighborhoods as the English Avenue and Vine City unlike its predecessor the Georgia Dome.

For most part of the year, the green-space will serve as a community park and a center for such events as arts, culture and entertainment. On game days, it will provide a parking space, and room for tailgating during Atlanta Falcon Games and Atlanta United FC matches.  Following completion of the gorgeous Home Depot Backyard, residents and visitors of the beautiful city of Atlanta are sure to be gifted with a vast green-space with fun activities and play areas.

In addition to the creation of an urban park, a new luxury hotel tower is also in the process of being situated on a one-acre portion of the same site where the dome once stood. The said hotel will have between 800 and 1000 rooms upon completion. Its overwhelming number of rooms will place the new lodge between the 6th largest hotel (Sheraton Atlanta Hotel; 749 rooms) and the 5th largest hotel in Atlanta (Omni Atlanta Hotel; 1038 rooms).

According to the officials, the new facility is aimed at reconnecting downtown Atlanta with historic Westside neighborhoods. Atlanta Falcons Boss during a press conference, further stated that on completion of the Home Depot Backyard, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium which the latter complements will end up being one of the most magnificent sports and entertainment venues in all the world.
